One evening, Jesus and His disciples set out across the lake in a boat. Jesus was tired and fell asleep, and a fierce storm rolled in. Waves crashed over the sides, and the disciples were terrified, certain they were going to drown. They woke Jesus, and He stood up, spoke to the wind and the waves, and everything went completely calm. Then He asked them a gentle but pointed question: why were they so afraid? Did they still not trust Him?
This story has something all children can relate to – fear. In the middle of feeling scared, this story shows them Jesus is powerful enough to calm any storm, and close enough to be asked.

Materials & Equipment

- Paper (thick)
- Colouring tools
- Scissors
- Tape
- x5 paper fasterners/brad/split pin
Notes!! Please read.
This craft requires patience to cut pieces out neatly and to follow the instructions so that it works without getting caught with every movement. To use this with little children, please consider having adults cut and hole punch the pieces in preparation. It will take around 5 minutes to cut and hole punch one craft. (The end result is worth it!)
PAPER: Please use as thick of paper as possible. I have use all thicknesses with success, but the very best is 250GSM or 90-92lb.
TAPING SPLIT PINS: So the backs of the pins don’t catch on other moving parts, these must be taped down.
SPLIT PINS: Short split pins will make this craft nice and neat. One with long tabs will sit over the paper’s edge and be impossible to tape. I used 15mm (around 5/8″).
